Our energy is constantly being influenced by the environment and the people around us and that's a good thing as it keeps our senses alive and alert, helping us remain present and connected to the world around us.
However, whether you're working in a busy office, or simply out and about, it’s essential to maintain your energetic boundaries to stay grounded, focused, and emotionally balanced. We can’t change another person’s energy but we can focus on our own and do it often.
Here are some simple and effective ways to protect and cleanse your energy, don’t try them all at once, pick a couple and work with them for a couple of weeks and make note of any changes you notice:
1. Set Clear Intentions
Begin your day by setting a positive intention for your energy. Visualise a protective barrier around you—imagine a bright, healing light enveloping your body. This mental practice helps establish energetic boundaries. Check in regularly throughout the day and top up if required!
2. Practice Grounding Techniques
Grounding helps anchor your energy and prevent feeling overwhelmed. You can:
Connect with nature: Take a few minutes outside, walk barefoot on grass or soil. If you can’t get outside then take a few minutes to look outside, imagine yourself being outside and walking on the ground, by trees, by the ocean. Imagination is so powerful it takes your body right there!
Visualisation: If you work in a high rise building, Imagine roots extending from your feet, going down through each floor until you reach down deep into the earth. Check in throughout the day if they’ve become loose!
Deep breathing: Inhale deeply through your nose and deep into the belly, hold for a few seconds, then exhale slowly. Repeat several times to activate the parasympathetic nervous system.
3. Use Protective Visualisations
Visualisations are powerful tools to shield your energy. Some popular methods include:
White Light Shield: Imagine a white or golden light surrounding your body, acting as a protective barrier.
Zip up!: Visualise putting on a cloak / coat and literally zip up and draw your energy close to your body.
Bubble of Light: Envision yourself inside a bubble of bright, sparkling energy that only allows positive influences in.
4. Carry or Use Personal Protective Tools
Certain objects can serve as energetic protectors:
Crystals: Amethyst, black tourmaline, or selenite are known for their protective properties. Keep one in your pocket or on your desk.
Essential oils: Diffuse or apply calming oils like lavender, frankincense, peppermint to help clear your energy and refresh your mind.
Affirmations: Remind yourself of a positive affirmations such as “I am protected,” “My energy is mine,” or “I am safe.” And repeat throughout your day if you catch your mind is going down a negative spiral.
5. Regularly Cleanse Your Energy
Just as your physical space benefits from cleaning, your energy needs regular purification:
Smudging: Light sage, palo santo or use an aura spritz and gently cleanse your aura/workspace daily/nightly.
Use the high vibe of flowers/plants on your desk to sheild from emf's whilst elevating your energy.
Salt Baths (or cool showers): Soaking in a bath with sea salt or Epsom salts at the end of the day helps to clear residual energy.
Visualisation Cleansing: Imagine negative energy draining from your body and being absorbed by the earth, leaving you feeling refreshed.
6. Practice Mindfulness, Emotional Awareness & Exercise
Being aware of your emotional state helps you recognise when your energy may be compromised.
Regular mindfulness meditation or brief pauses throughout your day can help you reset and regain balance.
Incorporate gentle exercise such as walking or yoga - a heightened stress response often associated with intense exercise may not be what you need - so monitor your energy levels and listen to your body.
7. Limit Exposure and Take Breaks
When possible, step away from stressful situations or negative environments. Short breaks, even for a few minutes, allow you to reset your energy and come back with a clearer perspective.
8. Regularly Download
Take a few minutes to brain dump and download your day on to paper, the good, the bad and the ugly! To give yourself a little space to let out how you have been feeling so it’s not held within the body.
Lastly, don't hesitate to seek professional help if needed.
Protecting and cleansing your energy is an ongoing practice that empowers you to navigate your daily interactions with greater ease and resilience.
Incorporate these simple techniques into your routine to maintain your energetic health, stay focused, and foster a positive work environment. Remember, your energy is your most valuable asset—treat it with care!
