We are still in the throws of Winter. You may be feeling a little ‘cold’ or stagnant—both physically and emotionally—like you're not quite moving forward or tackling your to-do list with your usual vitality and energy. Frustration, tiredness, and heightened emotions might be bubbling beneath the surface. Perhaps you’ve shifted from actively shifting things to just drifting along. And that’s perfectly okay.

Winter is a time for pause, reflection, and gaining wisdom. The color of Winter—white, the hue of snow (if you’re lucky enough to see it!)—symbolises clarity. It invites us to see clearly all that we’ve learned over the past six months (or even further back). Without the vibrancy of summer’s colors, we gain a sharper perspective on our thoughts and feelings. Beneath the surface, deep change is quietly occurring, preparing us for the blossoming of spring.

There are two universal laws at play— the Law of Rhythm and the Law of Action—and we are beautifully and inextricably woven into these natural cycles.

The Law of Action reminds us that action is often needed to trigger change. Listen to your inner guidance: What are you thinking about? Which thoughts are you choosing to act on? Embrace both the uncomfortable and the comforting thoughts as they come through. Now is a powerful time for deep listening and awareness.

The Law of Rhythm states that nothing truly stands still. Everything moves in cycles, much like a pendulum swinging from side to side. There’s a season and a reason for everything—from planetary and seasonal cycles to lunar phases, life transitions, and bodily rhythms. Take a moment to reflect on the rhythms you’ve adopted in your own life—monthly routines, daily habits, hourly patterns.

So, how can you make the most of Winter? Here are some gentle suggestions:

  • Allow yourself scheduled retreat time—to think, contemplate, and simply be with kindness and love.

  • Take walks in nature and listen to the beautiful activity around you. Nature’s quiet rhythm is a balm for the soul.

  • Journal your thoughts—reflect on recent events, your aspirations, and your desires.

  • Get creative—draw, play music, cook, or engage in any activity that sparks joy.

  • Review your goals—where might you be putting too much pressure or expectation on yourself right now?

  • Schedule social time—talk about your concerns, share laughter, play games, and bring in bursts of energy.

  • Bathe with Epsom salts, herbs, or oils of your choice to cleanse and refresh your body.

  • Diffuse rosemary essential oil—it's excellent for clarity, concentration, and memory, helping you connect with both the old and the new.

  • Connect with crystals such as clear quartz, bloodstone, moonstone, or turquoise.

  • Nourish yourself with seasonal fruits and vegetables—hearty soups, curries, and comfort foods that taste as good as they feel nourishing.

  • Listen to your body—if it needs more sleep, give it that. If meditation or a brisk walk feels right, do that. Your body will guide you if you ask.

Most importantly, enjoy the process. As one moment rhythmically unfolds into the next, so too will you. Embrace the natural flow of Winter, trusting that change is quietly happening beneath the surface.

Finally, enjoy the process! as one moment rhythmically unfolds into the next, so to, will you.
